Why choose to work with us? This is how we work

We work with business owners and senior leaders to become experts at creating the results they desire by developing expert leadership. We value self-worth as the heart of everything. We help people take practical steps to make the most of their own strengths. We support leaders/business owners to overcome any barriers to their best performance and to help grow them their businesses. Enthusiasm and humour play a big part in our work. It’s a positive working relationship and an uplifting experiencing which creates results. It’s about what you can do.

Areas of expertise include: Strategic planning; managing for performance; team dynamics; effective communication; managing cultural change; developing new managers; assertiveness at work; time management; creating a coaching culture and growing your business through expert leadership. All coaches are leaders but not all leaders are coaches! We help you embed a coaching culture to drive results.

A favourite saying of ours about coaching is by Johann Gottfried von Herder

“Without inspiration, the best powers of the mind remain dormant. There is a fuel within us which needs to be ignited. Fortunate is the one who has the person around them to ignite their fuel. “

We work with people by helping them find what is hidden in a supportive, structured and (mostly) fun way. (Sometimes it’s hard, but then nothing good comes easy!) Clients learn to raise their awareness, take responsibility and move forwards to their desired results by becoming expert leaders.

Business owners, when is a good time to get involved?

  • You find you run out of time and everything is pressured
  • Performance management issues are festering
  • You find it hard to manage the changes needed
  • You feel isolated, with no one managing your performance
  • You feel bogged down with day – to - day stuff
  • You have no spark left

Leadership teams

The most common leadership issue which I have encountered in my varied experience in organisations across a range of sectors is that good people get promoted. They then feel lost because they find themselves having to manage the performance of others. It’s true. If someone does well in their job they are moved up - and out of their skills set. This can lead to a loss of confidence and sometimes lots of mistakes around leading people. The performance of many is adversely affected as a result.

My work with teams and senior leaders helps to put this right. A leader has to ‘speak with authority, speak with conviction, speak with enthusiasm’.  (Dr Tom Barrett, Real Leadership in Real-Time which is a great book!) All of this takes support and coaching.

All coaches are leaders, but not all leaders are coaches. My work focuses on ‘transformational leadership’ in which leaders are visionary. It builds a learning culture which thrives on providing effective feedback. This has dramatic, transformational results.

When is the right time to get me involved with your team?

  • When the results are not happening
  • When the atmosphere is one of fear and blame
  • When the organisation needs to make changes to improve productivity
  • When there is a lack of focus
  • When there is no joy in what you do as a leader of your team.

Andy Key

“I met Andy when I was attending a course being held at the Let’s Do Business, Summerfield Centre, where we were both participating in our own continuing professional development (CPD) as licensed Best Year YetTM (BYY) specialist coaches. Andy and I have both been approved to use this particular coaching model and as part of the quality control process we have to maintain our CPD. The BYY programme, (which is based on the world famous book by Jinny Ditzler of the same name), is only offered by selected, highly trained, licensed coaches (the licence is granted by New Level Results LLP). Whilst we were both enjoying enhancing our skills we discovered that we shared the same values and ethos. Andy and I and licensed by New Level Results, we are both on the same page and operate using the same methods and approach. It was important for me to find someone who valued the same things as me and wanted to support clients in the same way. Business coaches have many different styles and methods and I knew I needed to find someone who worked the way I do. When I found Andy, it just clicked. I got to know him well and soon became confident that Andy is a people-focused person and prides himself on finding the right way to grow businesses based on owner aspirations and delivering exceptional customer service. Having gained experience in a career with a FTSE 100 company, holding senior posts in many disciplines, Andy knows what works and how to tackle all those challenges that can stop business leaders identifying and taking decisive action.”

Andy Key has an extensive career in financial services behind him, with senior roles with a FTSE 100 PLC across Sales & Marketing, Operations and Directorship. His leadership and management skills have been honed throughout his career, including time spent with Harvard University, studying at both the TESCO Senior Management College and the RBS Senior Manager Development School in Edinburgh. He has worked as a coach supporting all types of businesses and compliments Rachel’s skills set.

Andy says “Integrity, honesty and customer satisfaction are very important to me and I firmly believe that Rachel shares those values and that is what will set us apart from the crowd. Having worked in the commercial world for over 30 years I am determined to put the skills learnt to best effect. Working with Rachel will allow me to do that and harness the fantastic relationships I have forged since I focused on business coaching full time."

‘Canine Partners is a charity that helps transforms the lives of disabled people. We train assistance dogs that carry out practical, everyday tasks. They can unload a washing machine, pick-up something off the floor, help with the shopping (take a tin off the shelf) – and much more! Many disabled people rely on carers to do the simplest of tasks; our dogs can take over many of these duties and give back a degree of independence at the same time. Just as important, our dogs can give someone back their confidence - as well as a large helping of love and security. Our dogs really do transform lives.'
